Psalm of Comfort~Ps. 143:8-12

Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You.

Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies;
In You I take shelter.
Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.

Revive me, O Lord, for Your name's sake!
For Your righteousness' sake
Bring my soul out of trouble.

In Your mercy cut off my enemies,
And destroy all those who afflict my soul;
For I am Your servant.

In this Psalm, David is asking God to do different things for him, and he gives God the reason why He should answer him. My favorite one is when David asks God to revive him for God's own name's sake and for the sake of His righteousness to bring him(David) out of trouble. I think many of us are facing some trouble right now. It may be physical, spiritual, financial, etc. The economy was never our Provider. God is our Provider and He always will be. Insurance is not our Provider. Does God use these things? Do we feel the effects in our own lives when these things fail? Yes. But, let's remind each other that God is God regardless of what the Kingdoms of this world are doing. We belong to a different Kingdom. And for the sake of His name, He will help us and deliver us from our trouble.
Take courage. We are His. He takes care of His own. Even when we've made mistakes. We do not forsake our children when they make mistakes. He is a better parent than we are. Trust His Love.

God's scales

I had written earlier in my blog that the only hope for our country is God's redemption of mankind. It's been bothering me. God has already redeemed mankind. I think that the only hope for our country is for the redeemed to live as The Redeemed. What does He say? If MY People...not, the Heathen, not The President, but, My People...If they would humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from THEIR wicked ways, then I would hear from Heaven and forgive MY people of their sins and heal their land....

How many people is He talking about? What will tip His scales in favor of hearing us from Heaven? How many have to turn from their wicked ways? I don't know. But so often, in the Scriptures, we find that He looked for a man...singular...one person, to intervene on behalf of a people. What if He wants a million to repent? What if His count is at 999,999? What if He's waiting on you? On me? Or what if it would only take one person to seek His face? What if He's waiting on one of us? Regardless, we cannot point a finger beyond the face we see in the mirror. It takes time to seek His face. It is uncomfortable to humble ourselves. Who wants to consider one's own wicked ways? Could we possibly be that important? If we are not, who is?

You
Me
Humble ourselves
Pray
Seek His Face
Turn from our wicked ways
THEN
He will hear from heaven
Forgive our sins
And heal our land~~

This is our only hope.
This is something we must do.
Will you? Will I?

A Psalm of Comfort~Ps.71:20,21

There is a dear lady at our church who is facing down a giant of cancer in her life. I am not close to her but I have friends who are. They are suffering with her as she runs her marathon. I am on the sidelines, cheering them on. Would you pray with me for her as I enter Psalms of Comfort and Strength for her on my blog? Thank you. God knows her name.

When my brother-in-law was killed in Thailand, I went through a dark time of sorrow. There was a verse God gave me that I soaked in daily, like a warm bubble bath. It helped a little. Then, one Sunday morning, our pastor spoke the same verse over the pulpit. I don't think it was even part of his sermon. As he spoke the verse, I physically experienced the warmth and love of God. It seemed like He picked up that bathtub that I had been soaking in and poured it over me, washing from me the rusty chains of sorrow, and giving me the freedom to be comforted. I knew I had been transported from a land where I was experiencing only the agony of sorrow into a land where I could experience the beauty of sorrow. And that's where I live today. This is the verse that I love. These are the words that comforted me.

Psalm 71:20, 21~ "You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,
Shall revive me again,
And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
You shall increase my greatness,
And comfort me on every side."

Let it be so, for our friend. Lord, bless her with comfort on every side. Give her comforters on every side. Increase her greatness and revive her. Bring her up from the depths of the earth. Let us see your goodness to her in the land of the living. Amen.
