More of Mother's Gems

My Mother has kept journals for many years. She writes more of a diary in one journal and her Bible insights in another. I have the wonderful privilege to be reading through them. I mark the insights I want to blog with a little colored pencil circle and draw a line through them after I've blogged them. I really should be cleaning out the refrigerator but I read some things and have an urgency to blog them. Perhaps someone needs to read what she has to say right now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Matthew 22:29-"You are mistaken, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God." Both are necessary. Just knowing the scriptures would be head knowledge. Just knowing the power of God could lead to our being unbalanced and always looking for the supernatural."
Numbers 10-a good chapter. Vs. 1-10 tells about God telling Moses to make 2 trumpets and the way they were to be used. The number of blasts had a distinct message; an example of effective organization. And I thought again,'You are a God of order, and the more godly Your children become, the more organized they should be.' I have such a long way to go in both.
Matthew 25:1-13- Another example of the value of orderly preparation: the foolish virgins left without taking any oil for their lamps. Why even take the lamps?! This is also an example of keeping up appearances. Taking lamps, which everyone could see, made it look as if they were as prepared to meet the bridegroom as the others. They even went through the motions of trimming them. And they must have had oil in them at one time for there was a residue there that lit and then flickered out. To me this again refutes the doctrine of eternal security.
Matthew 25:14-20-The story of the talents. Excuses are usually just that and very seldom truthful. Here the Lord did not believe the one talent man's excuse of fear. He just calls him lazy and wicked.
Number 12-Another chapter showing the sterling character of Moses. Aaron and Miriam attack his marriage and his calling. Moses doesn't answer their complaint but God certainly does. He praises Moses and tells of his special relationship with Him. Miriam also become leprous. Moses, instead of savoring his vindication and allowing Miriam to suffer awhile, immediately prays for her healing. And the whole group felt the consequences of her sin. They had to wait 7 days that Miriam spent banished outside the camp. How embarrassing this must have been. It is dangerous to attack God's chosen leaders. It is unnecessary also to defend ourselves if we are blameless. God will do that for us.
