Hot Fudge Sundae Cake

The first time Dad and I ever had this was at Tom and Wendy Brynan's.
We used to have a Bible Study with them and Dad led a study on Revelation.
They often had us there for a meal because Wendy is a great cook and we were
and still are, dear friends.
I got a similar recipe out of  'Simply Wonderful' and it was submitted by Ada Dienner.

1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
6 Tablespoons baking cocoa, divided
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 3/4 cup hot water

Combine flour, sugar, 2 Tbsp. cocoa, baking powder and salt.
Stir in milk, oil and vanilla until smooth.
Spread in an ungreased 9" pan.
Combine brown sugar and remaining cocoa.
Sprinkle over batter.
Pour hot water over all.
DO NOT STIR.
Bake at 350* for 35-40 min.
Serve warm.
Very good with ice cream.

During the baking process, the cake will rise to the top
and the syrup will remain underneath.
