Sunday Sermon~May 3. 2009

Pastor Frank spoke from John 2-The Wedding in Cana

The first miracle that Jesus performed was the turning of water into wine at the wedding in Cana. The last ministry of Jesus recorded in Revelation will be the wedding supper of the Lamb.
What happens in between these two weddings is what God intends for us to receive.
He started it with joy and will end it with joy and He wants us to experience joy from one end to the other.

Jesus, His mother, and His disciples were at a wedding. The wine ran out. Mary, His mother, told Jesus, 'They've run out of wine.' The unspoken words were, 'Do something about it.' Jesus told her that it wasn't His time to start doing miracle, but she persisted. She said to the servants, "Do whatever He tells you to do." So, Jesus told them to fill the empty jars of clay with water and then told them to take some out and take it the master of the feast. It was now really good tasting wine. The master of the feast told the bridegroom, "You have saved the best for last. Most people serve the cheaper wine when no one really cares any more. But you have saved the best for last."

God has saved the best for this generation. Many of us have experienced a mighty move of God, but He saved His best wine for this generation.

The vessels Jesus told them to fill with water were used for ceremonial cleansing rituals.
They were used for religious work.
God desires more than a hard clay jar that is used for nothing more than some religious ceremony. Only one thing was important at this wedding and only one thing is important at this hour in the church and in the time table of world events.
WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF WINE.

The issue at the wedding and at this time is not the volume of the music, or the temperature of the room, or who has money or who has power.
I press toward THE mark...
Without A vision, the people perish.
We need to focus and decide to do ONE thing.
Be filled with wine.
Get your vessel full of wine.
Terrible things are coming.
Jesus wants to turn your water into wine.
He is not about answering all your needs.
He wants one thing.
He wants to fill us with the wine of the Holy Spirit and with His joy.
When our vessels are full of wine, we won't need someone else to take our problems to God.
We will want to "do what HE says."
"We are either a hard clay jar or we are vessels full of wine!"

Those who were 30 and under came up to the front of the church and sat on the front rows and on the floor. During the altar ministry, those who were older came up and prayed for the younger generation represented. A short time later, the younger generation turned around and prayed for the older generation. It was really meaningful.
I think that praying for each other helps to fill our vessels with water so Jesus can touch our water and turn it into wine. We are like the servants at the wedding in Cana, pouring water(refreshment and encouragement) into each others clay vessels. We pour in the water, and Jesus turns it into the best wine ever.
