Crisis of Faith

(Book Report on Mark)-

It seems like death can bring a crisis of faith into our lives. We wonder where God is. He protected others, where was He in this situation? At a time when we need God the most, we wonder about Him the most, and then we feel guilty about our wondering.

But Jesus had His own crisis of faith when He was facing death.

Mark 15:34 has Him recorded as crying out in a loud voice, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?"

If crying out, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" is not a crisis of faith, then I don't know what is.

It says in the Bible that Jesus suffered every temptation that we would suffer.
The only difference is, we are tempted to believe that God has forsaken us.
God had really forsaken Jesus for that moment in time. (He was dying on the cross for the sins of the world, not His own. But at that time, He took the sins of the world on Himself, and God, who is holy, couldn't look at His own son, forsaking Him as He turned His face from Him, when Jesus needed Him most.)

That was a terrible time for both of them.

If you are facing a crisis of faith and wondering where God is, you are in good company.
Jesus Christ has gone before you and wondered the same thing and look what has happened to Him.
