Hertzler's Pig Roast and Music Fest-2009

I just want to make sure that all my local and Pa. readers, and any other readers for that matter, know about our Pig Roast to be held on June 20th this year. At this point, we are preparing to have several hundred folks join us around 1:00 on that Saturday afternooon to enjoy a day of local live music and freshly roasted pig. Everyone brings a side dish or two and a drink to share. Bring lawn chairs and come early to find the shade. Ice cream will be served around 5:30.

This is our eighth annual pig roast. We are a bit behind in the planning this year but every year, we relax a bit more and nail down the game plan a bit more efficiently. This is our sixth pig roast in Va. In Aug., we will have lived here six years. We had two pig roasts in Pa.

This year, we have a young friend who is coming in from OK to be here for the Pig Roast. She's spending a few days with us next week and will help us get ready. One of my students, Graham, and his dad, will be performing some songs during the Music Fest. I am excited about that. Roger will have some sort of band put together and he and Phil will do some numbers too. Tom Hertzler and Family will perform the song they sang for Anne's wedding and I think that their church worship team may sing some songs too. I think that there will be some other groups as well.

So, you all come and join us eating pork, walking to the river, playing yard games, hanging out with new friends and old, and listening to some of the finest music on the east coast.
