by Lisa Beamer, with Ken Abraham
I found this treasure at Madeline's House for $2.00! I've wanted to read it ever since it came out. I was reading it over the anniversary of Johnny's death and I could relate to some of the emotions and even the events of Lisa's story.
Lisa Beamer was the wife of Todd Beamer. He was one of the heroes on The United Airlines flight 93 that the terrorists took over on 9-11. Because of him and other heroes on that flight, many lives were saved. Todd and the others, basically brought down the high-jacked plane in an uninhabited field in Shanksville, Pa., before it could due damage in a public area. They were in communication with those on the ground and realized that terrorists were making a concerted effort to destroy as many American lives and landmarks as possible on this day.
It is an amazing story of self-sacrifice, initiative, and divine courage.
I loved this book and someday, I hope to meet Lisa Beamer. She is also a hero. She was propelled rapidly into the public eye, even as she herself, was grappling with great loss and shock. I'd really like to know how she is today. She wrote this book in 2002 and the events took place in 2001. She gave birth to a baby girl a few months after Todd passed away.
God bless Lisa and her family and may all His hopes and plans for them come to pass.
God bless and protect America from evil within and without.
