Matthew presented Jesus, not only as the Messiah, but as the son of David.
He most likely wrote his gospel in A.D. 50-75.
Matthew quoted 41 O.T. prophesy's that Jesus fulfilled.
In Matthew, 7:21, there is a stern warning from Jesus, that even though we may call Him 'Lord' and have cast out demons and done wonders in His name, that does not meant that we enter the Kingdom of heaven. Only those who do the will of the Father may enter. We apparently can use His name and work a ministry but not be living in a genuine, obedient relationship with Him.
It is important for Him to know us.
This sometimes bothers me.
How do I let Him know me?
Last week, I read 1 Cor. 8:3.
It says, "But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him."
It comes back to that first love again. Loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength...and loving our neighbor as ourselves.
We can 'do' all kinds of ministry to people, but if we don't love God, it will profit us nothing.
It will profit us worse than nothing. It probably won't help the people we've 'done' it to, as well.
Love God and He will know us.
And we will love Him and be known by Him forever and ever.
