I think that we are sometimes too polite with Jesus.
In Mark 3:9,10, it says that Jesus told His disciples to 'keep a small boat ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they should crush Him. For He healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him.'
In Mark 5:27, we read the account of the woman who pressed through the crowd just to touch the hem of His garment.
Mark 4:25 says, "For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."
My Bible notes explain it this way.
'Jesus appeals for spiritual perception. Those who receive and assimilate truth will have their capacity for understanding enlarged and their knowledge increased. Those who disbelieve or are indifferent will lose whatever ability for understanding they had, and therefore will continue in ignorance.'
Is. 64:7b encourages us to stir ourselves up to take hold of Him.
Sometimes, we are too willing to let Jesus go to someone else's house and heal their daughter.
Sometimes, we don't press into Him hard enough.
We think that someone else needs Him more.
We think His power is limited and that He only has so much to give.
I think we should press into Him so hard that He either needs to press back just as hard in order not to lose His balance, or He needs to get into the boat so He can say what He needs to say without being crushed by our overwhelming need.
The more hunger and thirst we have for Him, the more hunger and thirst we will have for Him. Hunger and thirst are primal instinctive needs.
If we are hungry and thirsty, we are most likely not going to take a number and patiently wait.
Press in.
Stir yourself up.
If there is ever a time that it's all right to put yourself first,
this is it.
He does not run out of who He is or what He does.
Don't be too polite with Jesus.
