Solomon was the author of the majority of the writing in these books. Even though Solomon was known as the wisest man on earth, he became cynical with life because he was drawn from the source of his wisdom by the availability of too many women. However, we don't throw out the book of Proverbs because Solomon messed up in his life. We keep the good and acknowledge the bad and see God's redemption in the midst of it all. At the end of Eccl. he says that the main thing that is important in life is to "Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, whether good or bad."
As far as Song of Solomon goes...Read it at your own risk is all I can say. WoweeZowee! I had a hard time spiritualizing any of it, and who wants to!!!???
