Feb. 26~I visited my neighbor, Jeanne, today. She and her husband, John, bought land from us. Phil built them a beautiful house on their property. She showed me her raised garden beds and painted succulent word pictures of ripe watermelons, canteloupes, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, herbs, strawberries, and more. Gardening is about hope and faith. We plant the seed and hope and believe we will reap a bountiful harvest. We visited over tea and she gave me some information about websites for writers. I am thinking that I might want to be a writer when I grow up. She wrote about our morning on her blog page on my blogsite. I think it is listed as "A Taste of Heaven" or something like that. I learned more about her corporate life in New York and marvel that God brought us together. I am learning alot about country living from her and I've been living in the country all my life. She is Catholic and I am a mix of Mennonite and Pentecostal. Perhaps I've got some Anglican in there somewhere, too. We appreciate each other's love for Christ and His Word and also share a love for majestic music. I brought four healthy lifestyle cookbooks home from her place. I also brought home a happy heart.
Feb.27-Friday-Michael was interviewed by Boys State today at school. It is a program sponsored by the American Legion. They said he was "Top-notch" and he is accepted for this year's program at Liberty. He will learn about government and meet some top officials from D.C. when he attends Boys State for a week this summer. Mrs. Jones was so excited for him.
The select choir of five girls from CCA is preparing the song, "Dona Nobis Pacem" for Recitatio this year. We practiced in the chapel and they sounded like one voice. Dona nobis pacem is Latin for "God grant us peace." Judy met us after school with Sammy Jo. She followed us to Appomattox High School where we met Mr. Wilkerson. He is Michael's Driver's Ed. teacher. Then we went to my favorite street in Appomattox. We visited the Antique Store, Country Charm, and Baine's Book Store. We enjoyed something warm to drink and talked while we fed Sammy Jo. It was great to spend some time with Judy. I am sure glad to have a friend like her. Susan was with us. Judy bought her a beautiful silver bracelet for her birthday. Susan's birthday is March 4 and Judy's is March 5. We met Michael back at Dairy Queen and he now has his 90 day driver's license and is itching just to drive somewhere by himself. Freeman spent the night at Streams. We watched Monk. Philip was with some Harvest friends.
Feb. 28-I asked Michael to take Susan to Sarah's place for her birthday party. He was happy to do so. Sarah celebrated her birthday at the AJ's Skating World. Susan had such a great time. I cleaned the house.
Mar.1~Sunday morning~Phil took a walk and found quite a few arrowheads and Indian tools. We went to church. I got to hold Adi again. She came right to me and fell asleep during the early songs of worship. We were unaware that we were going to get snow. Phil was in a hurry to leave at the end of church because he had alot to do here on the farm before we got much snow. It snowed and blowed. It was wonderful. Freeman came in and said the cows were out. Susan went out to help and was traumatized to see that the cows had knocked over one of the rabbit's cages. The rabbit was out hopping around and the little calves were curious and began to close in on the frightened creature. Mr. Bunny hopped over to Freeman to be rescued. Bunny tucked his head inside Susan's elbow and hid. She brought him in and gave him two baths and kept him inside overnight. Philip spent the night at Plank's since it was snowing so badly. Michael was disappointed that the snow kept Chace from coming home with us. Began reading "Love Dare" this evening. Patience and Kindness are the pillars of Love. Makes sense. "Love is patient and kind...."
Mar.2~Sometime during the night, the electricity went off. I didn't sleep much because I didn't want to miss hearing the wind and snow blowing. It's a good thing that I always keep the tub water in. It came in handy to flush the toilet. Phil got the tractor running and the generator working, so I was able to do wash and bake bread, etc. I went for a walk and took beautiful snow pictures. Susan got the gator stuck in the snow, but Philip and Zack got it out for her when they came back. We got about 6-8 inches of snow. Alot of people are out of electricity. It is 4:00 in the afternoon, and we are still running the generator. Philip and Michael went to Martins for some kind of snow party. Susan is making peanut butter eggs and Freeman...I'm not sure what he is doing at the moment. Phil is working on business and would love to build anyone reading this the house of their dreams. Our dream house is getting smaller even as our worldview is getting larger. Simplify and get ready...Simplify and get ready...These words toll like bells in my soul.
