Pharisees

I think the reason Jesus got so angry with the Pharisees was because as religious leaders,
they were supposed to represent His Father to the lost sheep of Israel.

Instead, they made His Father out to be a hard taskmaster, one concerned only with the keeping of the law and the appearance of holiness. They tied heavy burdens of duty on the backs of their people and didn't lift a finger to help them.

And here comes Jesus, saying, "Take my yoke upon you...my yoke is easy and my burden is light." He helped them carry any load they might have. He fulfilled the law. And He knew the importance of what was in the heart of man.

The Pharisees pretended to know God. Jesus was God. Is God.

We can be Pharisaical, too.
  Is that a word?

We can give people a list of do's and don'ts and tell them that God won't accept them if they look like this, or think like that, or don't attend enough meetings, etc. etc.

Or, we can be like Jesus.
We can have His heart and see the treasure within each man's soul.
We can help carry their load and make their burden lighter.
This does not mean that we are OK and they are OK.
Jesus said,"Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more."

He accepted them, not their sin.
He called them up to a higher place.

His love and power gave them the strength
to climb out of the pit of religious muck and Adam's pride.

His burning eyes affirm anew, that ," Yes, God did say what God did say."

His mercy is wrapped around truth.

Otherwise, He would only have pity, not compassion.
Pity keeps one where one is.
  Compassion moves.
He was moved with compassion to change their lives.
He fed the hungry in soul and body, and healed them inside out.

The more I know Him, the more I like Him.
The more I like Him, the more I love Him.
